Nothaphoebe foetida (Kosterm.) Kosterm., Reinwardtia 7 (1968)

Latin for 'smelling bad'.

Description
Mid-canopy tree up to 31 m tall and 61 cm dbh. Twigs conspicuously white. Stipules absent. Leaves alternate, simple, penni-veined, glabrous, long petioles. Flowers ca. 2.5 mm diameter, yellow-brown, placed in panicles. Fruits ca. 40 mm long, green, drupes.

Ecology
In undisturbed mixed dipterocarp forests up to 300 m altitude. On hillsides and ridges with sandy to clay soils. In secondary forests usually present as a pre-disturbance remnant tree.

Distribution
Borneo (Sarawak, East-Kalimantan).
