Description
Sub-canopy tree up to 23 m tall and 25 cm dbh. Young twigs and leaves covered with scales. Stipules absent. Leaves alternate, simple, penni-veined, slightly toothed margin. Flowers ca. 15 mm in diameter, white, placed in bundles on the branches, conspicuous yellow stamens. Fruits dry capsules filled with many small seeds, calyx persistent.

Ecology
Mainly in undisturbed mixed dipterocarp forests. In secondary forest usually present as a pre-disturbance remnant tree.
